Shanghai-Style Pork Dumplings

at Li Li

-Malate, Manila-
with RK, HRS, and temporary advisors
Hosted a meeting this week on regulating the sale and marketing of foods and non-alcoholic beverages in and around schools (see previously 7.148 Binagoongang Baboy), part of our on-going campaign to promote healthy diet for children (see also 6.330 Assorted Fruits Skewers).
On the final evening, dinner with the Korean delegation.
Excited that the delegation included a representative from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), the implementing agency for the Special Act on the Safety Management of Children’s Dietary Life — odd name aside, which sounds equally odd in Korean, it’s one of the only laws in the world — shockingly enough — that restricts the marketing of unhealthy foods and non-alcoholic beverages to children. Hoping that this will be the start of a fruitful collaboration with MFDS in addressing childhood obesity.

The Shanghai-Style Pork Dumplings, a new menu item, turned out to be xiaolongbao (see most recently 7.096 Xiaolongbao). Good.
