Having lived in the Philippines for nearly 3.5 years, having immersed myself in the local cuisine during that time – not really, but I kinda have to deal with it in the cafeteria for lunch every day at work, and I’ve made a few good faith efforts to learn, even if ultimately unsuccessful (see for example 6.359 Kangkong Lechon) – I can share with GMTD readers the secret to eating Filipino food: eat it with kimchi.

Seriously though, with kimchi, certain Filipino dishes actually taste Korean, such as grilled liempo, which is pork belly marinated in soy sauce, not entirely unlike galbi.
