In Penang, on a day excursion. Via Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas. Our first cruise. Departed Monday from Singapore, stopping in Penang (Malaysia) today and Phuket (Thailand) tomorrow, returning to Singapore on Friday.
Room service for breakfast – a lifelong dream for my father. Alas, after 74 years of waiting, the quality of the food shattered the fantasy.
To conclude a ho-hum taxi tour of town – the Upside Museum was kind cool, if only for the photos – we had dinner at a hum-drum restaurant recommended by the taxi driver – actually not too bad, just expected more from my first dinner in this famous food city.
Still, Penang isn’t a place that I would’ve gone out of my way to visit on its own, so I was glad for a quick peek as part of the package.
Upon return to the boat, another shot at late-night room service: Cheesecake (3.0), Spicy Wings (1.5), Grilled Salmon (2.5), Hot Dog (2.5), Chicken Tenders (2.25) – a bit better than last night, but not worth the calories.
