Ilpum Hyang (일품향) is a Korean-Chinese restaurant.  The name of the place means “First (il) Quality (pum) Aroma (hyang)” (sounds somewhat less weird in Korean).

On the day of the move-in (see 11.166 Combination Pizza), we had ordered lunch from Ilpum Hyang.  My recollection of the food had been less than favorable, but I gave it another shot, in case perhaps the madness of the moment had biased the perception.

The yangjangpi – one of my personal favorites, a labor-intensive dish that I use to determine a Korean-Chinese kitchen’s competency – was not very good.  While the individual ingredients were reasonably fresh and well prepared per se, they were sautéed together in a jumbled mass, rather than presented separately, like a structured salad, and mixed just prior to serving.  And everything was unpleasantly warm (as warm as could be, being delivered), rather than crisply room temperature.  Otherwise, the flavors were okayish.  Yet overall, it was a fail.
