Peacock is a line of DIY food packages made by E-Mart.
This item is for jjajang myeon, produced in collaboration with the restaurant Choma, supposedly a master of jjajang. According to the labelling, the package contains actual “wok-fired style” jjajang sauce (meaning “not actually wok-fired”) and “hand-pulled style” jjajang noodles (meaning “not actually hand-pulled”).
Meh. Although the description tried to give the impression that the food had been prepared in an actual kitchen, then frozen and packaged, which would thus provide a real deal experience when prepared, it simply tasted and felt like instant jjajang myeon. I had my doubts – as I’ve said many times on GMTD, instant jjajang myeon that tastes like the real deal is the holy grail of Korean food manufacturing – but hoped at least that the noodles would come close; not bad but not really close.
