Kon Thai is a Thai restaurant chain.  Currently 25 locations throughout the country, including 1 in Starfield City Wirye.

I have no information on when the chain was established – don’t recall seeing it when I lived here pre 2014 – but suddenly it seems to be everywhere.

Eatopia is a food court on the 4th floor of the mall.
Restaurants are a bit more elevated than the PK Kitchen self-serve food court on the ground floor (see generally 11.201 Bun Cha).

The food was okay.  Certain seasonings/aromatics essential to Thai cuisine – e.g., fish sauce, cilantro, holy basil, fermented beans – were notably absent, either to accommodate local palates by toning down the flavors, or due to the unavailability of ingredients.  Still, everything was tasty enough.

I was very happy just to be eating morning glory, even if it wasn’t phak bung fai daeng.

Telltale sign of inauthenticity: the fried egg isn’t crispy on the edges.
