Chuseok – Korea’s most important holiday, sorta like Thanksgiving, celebrated over 3 days – begins today.

Like the restaurant’s kimchi mari guksu, this was a refreshing way to end the meal.

We spent the entire day with W’s family, including W’s brother and his family – oh joy, oh bliss.

Started with lunch at the eel restaurant.

Afterwards, we went on a hike through the hills behind our apartment complex.

Then, somehow, as if by miracle, dinnertime was upon us, and we (“we” does not include everyone) agreed that having dinner together would be a great idea.

The banchan corner at J-Mart offered various jeon, an essential item on any traditional Korean spread.

And suddenly, I’m preparing dinner for 9 people.  2 shortcuts: delivery galbi tang from Jang Bong Dal (see 11.241 Galbi Tang) and takeout jeon from J-Mart (see generally 11.235 Bibimb Bab), neither of which compromised quality.

Happy Chuseok!
