The J-Mart sells a ready-to-cook dak galbi package, which is decent – more on that in a future post.
Poktan Maekju is an alcoholic product by the Hite Jinro company. Evokes poktanju – which means “bomb (poktan) liquor (ju)” – a cocktail comprising beer with a shot of something hard, usually soju, sometimes whisky – like an American-style boilermaker. According to the nutrition label, the drink does not contain actual soju or whisky.
With an ABV of 6%, it wasn’t just a strong beer. The flavor had a boozy kick, as if boosted with soju, probably generic alcohol. Not at all my thing, but I’m sure that it appeals to lightweights who want a quick buzz but don’t want the hassle of making actual poktanju.
