Spaghetti with Shrimp in Tomato Sauce (with Pan-Seared Cod)

The plan had been a lavish protein & pasta platter (see for example 14.045 Lamb Chops Milanese with Spaghetti in Cream Sauce), starring pan-seared cod fillets. But the fish didn’t turn out so great, at least in terms of appearance, so they were served on the side.
At our local supermarket (see FISH IN KOREA), I’d purchased a whole cod – typically chopped crosswise and boiled into a stew (see for example 11.315 Daegu Maeun Tang) – and had to explain to the fishmonger how to fillet it. While certain fish in Korean cuisine are cut lengthwise from head to tail, the bones are left in (see for example 12.246 Godeungeo Jaban).
