Following a recent success in upgrading an instant noodle product (see most recently 17.201 Jjawang – Jacked), I did it again.  Nothing major, just onions, napa cabbage, scallions, and bean sprouts.  But the vegetables gave the dish a homemade vibe, not that far from the real deal (see generally 12.365 Bokkeum Jjambbong).  DJ: “This is scary good.”

Whereas “jikhwa” means “direct flame” in reference to the intense heat achieved by stir-frying in a wok, resulting in smoky flavor i.e. wokhei, as suggested by the charred marks on the squid and onions in the cover image, the so-called “secret recipe oil” is infused with a hint of smokiness.

The package only contains noodles + sauce + seasoning flakes + “secret recipe” oil (hint of smoke/wokhei), which is good for someone like me, because the simple base allows for enhancement.  Next time: seafood and bokchoy.

Forgot to add the bean sprouts.
