Spicy Pickled Cucumber

The Spicy Pickled Cucumber was awesome.  The cucumbers themselves – Japanese, slender, ideal skin-to-flesh ratio – were perfectly fresh, perfectly crunchy.  Perfectly salted, perfectly seasoned with a sweetish spicy chili oil.  Reminded me of a similar dish at Modern Sichuan (see 8.112 Lapu Lapu with Green Peppercorns), but way better.  We finished the order within seconds and tried to get more, but alas we’d snagged the last plate.
