All the major fast food chains in the Philippines, including McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Jollibee, Army Navy, and of course KFC, serve fried chicken and rice with gravy (see generally 7.098 It’s Big! It’s Hot!), which is not really even considered fast food. Even at McDonald’s, arguably the world leader in burgers, I’d estimate that 7 out of 10 customers are eating fried chicken and rice with gravy, not burgers. At Burger King, however, I’ve noticed that 9 out of 10 customers are eating burgers, which would suggest that the burgers are really good – unless the chicken were really really bad, they’d probably still eat it (Filipinos don’t waste food).
The chicken was pretty good.

And so, the 10th cycle of GMTD comes to a close. Glad that I rebooted (see 10.028 Pan-Fried Chadolbagi). The 2-plus years that I didn’t write the blog had remained a blur. But when I began to look back and write about them, the memories took shape and took on meaning.
I look forward to continuing GMTD through the end of cycle 12 – who knows where I’ll be then.
